Detox (detoxification) is simply a period of time when you stop taking unhealthy or harmful foods, drinks or drugs in to your body in order to improve your health. Detox is the body’s way of ridding itself of toxins built up within it, due to many factors. Being exposed to stress, lack of rest/sleep, eating cooked and processed foods (the digestive system is a key holding place for many toxins), lack of exercise, breathing toxins in the air, as well as toxins placed on the body through soap, shampoo, perfumes, deodorant and much more. In order for the body to function properly, all of who you are needs an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate.
